ECR Party Statement
In light of recent public discussions concerning Afghanistan, the European Conservatives and Reformists Party wishes to reaffirm its profound and heartfelt respect for all servicemembers and civilian personnel who served under NATO and international missions in Afghanistan over the past two decades. Thousands of soldiers from European nations and allied countries served with professionalism, courage, and dedication in complex and often dangerous conditions, far from their families and home countries. Many endured lasting physical and personal consequences, and some gave their lives in the fulfilment of their duty. Their service stands as a testament to a shared sense of responsibility, collective security, and solidarity among allies. It also reminds us of the importance of mutual respect, trust, and unity among NATO partners, which remain essential to the strength and credibility of the Alliance. The European Conservatives and Reformists Party honours their courage and commitment and solemnly affirms that their sacrifice and service form part of our common European and transatlantic legacy, to be remembered with gratitude, dignity, and enduring respect.
