November 14, 2025
ECR Party welcomes key victory achieved by the ECR Group in the European Parliament.
The ECR Party welcomes yesterday’s important outcome in the European Parliament, where the ECR Group successfully secured amendments that bring greater balance and proportionality to the EU’s sustainability reporting and due diligence framework. Thanks to the work of the ECR Group:
European SMEs are protected from disproportionate obligations and mandatory transition requirements that would have created excessive burdens.
Unrealistic liability provisions have been removed, ensuring that Member States retain the necessary flexibility to shape their own regulatory systems.
Europe’s business environment and competitiveness are strengthened, providing stability and clarity for companies and investors alike.
The ECR Party applauds this achievement, which represents a meaningful step toward a more pragmatic, innovation-driven, and economically sound Europe. As the file now proceeds to interinstitutional negotiations, the ECR Party encourages continued efforts to defend a balanced approach that prioritises citizens, businesses, and sustainable growth over ideological pressures.
“Yesterday’s outcome shows that a firm defence of proportionality delivers real results. We stopped regulations that would have burdened European businesses and weakened the Union’s competitiveness. We will continue to ensure that Europe creates conditions for growth, not obstacles.” — Mateusz Morawiecki, President of ECR Party
“Yesterday marked a historic turning point in Brussels: for the first time, a centre-right majority approved a legislative act that protects our businesses from excessive green ideology. The previous plenary had already shown that compromises between the EPP and the left do not work; today it is clear that only a united centre-right majority can deliver pragmatic choices, genuine simplification, and rules that strengthen Europe’s competitiveness. This is the approach that must guide the upcoming dossiers as well.” — Carlo Fidanza, Vice President of ECR Party
